Alcantara's grippier than leather and it doesn't get slippery when your hands sweat. Here's What You're Getting

This is just the outer steering wheel wrap - the Alcantara part that you grip. It doesn't include the steering wheel buttons, plastics, or airbag. You're reusing all your factory steering wheel buttons, plastics, and airbag from your stock steering wheel. You're pulling your factory leather wrap off, transferring all your buttons and plastics to the new Alcantara wrap, and installing it on your steering wheel. If you're not comfortable taking your steering wheel apart and working around your airbag, get a shop to do it. You're dealing with an airbag system and you can hurt yourself if you screw it up.

Alcantara Grips Better Than Leather

Alcantara's a synthetic suede material that's way grippier than leather. Leather gets slippery when your hands sweat or when it's hot out. Alcantara stays grippy even when it's wet. That's why race car steering wheels use Alcantara or suede - it gives you better grip on the wheel when you're driving hard. The trade-off is Alcantara shows dirt and oils from your hands more than leather does. You'll need to clean it more often if you want it to stay looking good. Use a soft brush and some mild soap to clean it. Don't use leather cleaners or conditioners on Alcantara - they'll ruin it.

This Alcantara steering wheel was a factory optional accessory on the 2023+ Civic Type R FL5. All 11th gen Civics and Integras (including the FL5 Type R and DE5 Type S) came with leather steering wheels from the factory. This was an optional upgrade you could order from Honda on the Type R. This is your way to get the Type R's optional Alcantara wheel on your Type S, Civic Si, or base Integra without swapping the entire steering wheel assembly.

Note: This is the outer steering wheel wrap only. Steering wheel buttons, plastics, and airbag are NOT included. You're reusing all those parts from your factory steering wheel. Installation requires removing your airbag and disassembling your steering wheel. If you're not comfortable working with airbag systems, get a professional to install it. Disconnect your battery and wait at least 3 minutes before you start working on your steering wheel. The airbag system has capacitors that need to discharge. If you don't wait, you can accidentally deploy your airbag. Alcantara requires different care than leather. Don't use leather cleaners or conditioners. Use a soft brush and mild soap to clean it. Alcantara will show wear over time - the nap will flatten where you grip the wheel most. That's normal for Alcantara.
